The De Aldecoa family is 3 generations of coffee entrepreneurs, originally started in Spain & moved to Mexico during the Spanish Civil War to expand their new business. In the 1980's they were wanting to expand their coffee company yet again, and now 30 years later they still call Houston home.
With backgrounds in engineering and a history of food processing and relationships with grain farmers, they decided to expand their legendary company yet again in 2014, but this time to produce Distilled Spirits. Housed in a space near the East End warehouse district, the Gulf Coast Distillers facility was the original Uncle Ben's rice mill plant (mid 1940's), that sent and helped feed rice to soldiers fighting during WW2. With that said, our now grain silos, once held Uncle Ben's rice.

GHMA will host a plant tour of Gulf Coast Distillers and Eximius Coffee to include a tasting of their Giant Bourbon made in-house. Gulf Coast will invite a food truck. Tickets are $10. Register today!
